Lily's Halloween at School

Lily had a Halloween party at school today. It was so cute. They played games, ate some treats, and then trick or treated around the church, which is where she goes to school. Nolan came with me because I was asked to help out and volunteer to take pictures. Nolan wanted to be one of the kids so bad and had to join in with the big kids. We are getting lots of use out of the costumes this year. Lily had to dress up for dance on Monday night as well. Then on Friday, we are meeting up with Jenna and Gavin in the morning and then with some friends in the afternoon for trick or treating on state street and around the capitol.
Chris took the day off on Saturday, which I am totally excited about, so I am dragging him out to another children's event and then we have to get back by 4:00 to get ready for our Halloween party!! What a busy Halloween week.

Halloween at the zoo!!

This past weekend we took the kids to trick or treating at the zoo. We had a good time. It was warm weather, which was great so the kids actually got to show off their costumes. Lily was a princess, Sleeping beauty, and Nolan was a prince. They looked cute. We went with David, Jenna, Gavin, Mom and Dad VV, and Bubba.

I Love, Just love Oprah!! I have been trying to get tickets to her show for years. I called all the time in the past and now they have a email ticket request, but I am unsuccessful with getting tickets. It would be my dream someday to see her in her studio for a show... what would be even better is if it was her favorite things show..... I saw this today on her show and thought it was great!! Just wanted to share. Keep your eye on the girl in the blue, then watch as everyone joins in....Pretty cool how they can get everyone on Michigan avenue to do this.

Quote of the day

I heard this quote and it really made me stop and think... It is true. We don't really stop to think about the small things that this world has to offer. Days are busy and rushed and filled with repetition. I really enjoyed this and wanted to pass this along.

Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”

Sweetest Day!!

Yesterday was Sweetest Day!! Another Hallmark holiday....... My wonderful husband surprised me with flowers. How sweet :)
Happy Sweetest day Chris!!

The Haunted Trail- Humane Society Fundraiser

Chris has been busy working, yesterday and today, and I have been sick. I have been trying to stay busy with the kids so I don't have time to stop and think about being sick. Isn't it funny that moms really don't "get" to get sick. Life keeps plugging along and there are kids to take care of, so being sick, isn't on the schedule :)
Yesterday the kids and I ran to Target to pick up some things just to get out of the house for a while. While in Target, we met this wonderful mom and her daughter. We ended up talking for about 30 minutes and she invited us to come with her and her daughter to the Humane Society. They were having an event there for kids along with a haunted trail. So we decided to go. The kids had sooooo much fun!!! By the end of the day, they wanted to take home a puppy, but we didn't think that daddy would like that so much :) The kids had so much fun at the haunted trail and we actually ran into a lady from my work along with her kids so it was fun. The kids were pretty scared but by the end, Lily knew that it wasn't real and if she stayed on the trail, nobody would "get her". It was pretty scary though. I had never been to a haunted trail. I can't imagine how scared I would be if we went during the night time. I have posted some pictures. I wasn't able to get many of the kids in these pictures. I had one on my back and was holding the other one most of the time because they were "freaked out" as Lily says.
I love this time of year. So many activities going on to keep us busy. Next week is trick or treating at the zoo, and in a couple of weeks is Beakers and Broomsticks event at the children's museum.

APPLE PICKING

We love to pick apples so I took the kids the other day to the apple farm. They loved it. We got tons of apples, all different kinds. We have been making apples sauce, apple pie, apple crisp, and my favorite, homemade caramel apples with peanuts on the outside. YUMMY!! They love to pick the apples right off the tree and eat them. Who cares about washing them first when we are outside having fun, right. It was so cold that day. And like most kids, my kids hate to wear jackets, hats, and gloves. The jackets were on, off, on again, zipped, unzipped, gloves off, gloves on again, hat on, hat off, etc. Sheesh.... I was exhausted by the end of the trip but we had fun and racked in the apples. We have been delivering apples like crazy to family, friends, and neighbors. And we still have tons to eat.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! COME JOIN US

We are having a Halloween party at our house this year. Mom E. usually has it but we agreed to have it so we could be home to do trick or treating with the kids at our house and so we can hand out candy to the kids in our neighborhood. Anyone is welcome to come over so if you are in the area, stop on by!!

The Deal of the Century

If you know me, you know that I love deals. I don't ever buy anything unless it is on sale or I have some sort of coupon. I register online for all of the restaurants special cards where I get free appetizers, etc. for coming into their restaurant. We have the Bucky Book ( which is now expired) and the Entertainment book. I fill out surveys online for coupons and use them at stores. Example.... JcPenny offers a customer satisfaction survey so I fill those out, and print off a coupon for 15% off and keep them in my purse in case I visit the mall. ( Today was an example at Penney's) I bought 7 shirts at 2.97 each and got an extra 15% off. And... I went to Children's place and got the kids some clothes. I had 15% off and then another 10% off. And alot of their stuff was additional 50% off. I bought them shirts for less at 1.75 a piece)

This next deal beats them all. I went to Copps food Center. They have Keebler products, any Keebler products such a nutrigrain bars, cheezits, crackers, pop tarts, cereal, etc, on sale. It was buy 8 for 20.00 and get 10.00 off at the register. So 8 boxes for 10.00. Great deal, right? Well it gets better. If you buy 20.00 worth of cereal, so 16 boxes with the 10.00 off deal for each batch of 8, then you get another 5.00 off. Super Deal !! Right? It gets better..... So I had Coupons off each box. So 1.00 off each box. So I ended up buying 16 boxes of Cereal for less than 1.00 total including taxes. SWEET DEAL!! We will be eating Cereal for a long time in our house!!!

Now this is the kind of shopping my husband likes me to do :)

SNOW!!

I saw it.... SNOW!! It snowed here on Saturday for the first time this year. Lily was so excited. She thought it was Christmas time and time for Santa to come :) I just can't believe how cold it has been here. I love Fall and look forward to it every year. It feels like we totally missed fall and hopped right into winter. Boo!! The days are getting shorter and it is getting darker earlier. I can feel it now.... we are going to have a long winter. The kids and I went to Home Depot the other day looking for some things, and we ran into the Christmas aisle. The whole front of the store was decked out for Christmas. No Halloween stuff or even Thanksgiving stuff. Christmas trees, ornaments, stockings, snowglobes, etc.... All Christmas. Yikes!! I remember as a kid, the Christmas stuff would be up after Thanksgiving. Now it is before Halloween. No wonder the kids are confused.

This past Wednesday night, Lily and I went to a Tupperware party. We had so much fun. I have never been to a Tupperware party, although my mom used to sell it when we were kids. Tupperware has been around for a while :) I took Lily with me. I love that she is old enough to do things like this. It gives us time together enjoying "adult things" which she looks forward to.

So This weekend was a pretty relaxing one. I baked food, treats, etc. the whole weekend, which was nice. Saturday Mom, Lily, and I went to the craft fair. It was fun. It was great to have some girl time and Papa got to spend time with Nolan. ( Chris had to work) I got some cute signs for our house for the different seasons, and mom got a really neat wreath for their new addition.

I am in charge of Scholastic book orders for Lily's whole preschool so I spent much time this weekend calculating those and processing the order. Wheeww... What a project.

Chris has off today so we plan on relaxing, by the fire. The turkey is in the oven for dinner.... what a great start to the week.
