Let's take the Polar Bear Plunge

I am taking the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Wisconsin on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Madison. Yes, I am crazy.... But hopefully I will recruit more caring people to do it with me and have some fun for a special cause.

During the Polar Plunge, warm-hearted people collect pledges before jumping or running into Wisconsin's cold waters to raise funds for Special Olympics.

Money raised from the Polar Plunge will support local Special Olympics programs in Wisconsin, allowing nearly 10,000 athletes with cognitive disabilities to experience the joys of participation in sports and competition with their peers.

The Weekend

We had a pretty relaxing weekend. Chris had to work on Saturday and I vowed to stay home all day with the kids and not go anywhere. That doesn't happen too much at our house. We are usually running from this thing to that thing and never just stay home in our jammies all day long. I loved it. We got invited a few times to go out and then I had to cancel because I just wasn't going to go back on my word to myself. Weird huh????
Sunday we relaxed for most of the morning and then went to Mt. Horeb for Chris's after the holidays work party. It was at his coworkers house and he is from Hawaii. He made such wonderful Hawaiian food. It was all delish. The kids had a babysitter, which they loved. We usually have family watch the kids but we wanted to try something different and have the kids have a babysitter this time. Plus, it got to be really late at night on a "work night."

Crafty Kristin

I love etsy.com. They have great crafts for sale on there. They sell tons of hairbows for kids on there for really expensive. Great Great Grandma Lillian May Winch

Today we are off to a funeral for Chris's great Grandma. She was 96 years old and passed away this past week. Here is a picture of her with the kids at our house during Thanksgiving.... this would be five generations... so Lily and Nolan's great great grandma. Amazing. In this picture, we were actually getting ready to play Euchre, a card game, which she really liked and we often played at family gatherings. We are sad to see her go but she lived a long life and passed away peacefully at her house. She had her own apartment still and lived on her own. Pretty Remarkable... she had 19 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. WOW!! You will be missed Great Grandma Lillian.

 

I Won! YEAH

So Chris and I had a special day with Lily last week. Nolan went to grammy and papa's for the afternoon and Chris and I took Lily to the home show in Madison followed by lunch at Olive Garden, which is her favorite restaurant. When we were at the home show, they had a booth where there was money flying in a glass case and we were to guess the correct amount of money. Well... I guessed it right and won a trip for 4 days and 3 nights to the Kalahari resort and spa in the WI Dells. We are super pumped to go there again and that we get to stay for so long..... and the best part is that it is free. We got a gift certificate from Mom Kim for there from Christmas so we are planning on making it a all out trip. We can't wait.

KARATE!!

We know have Lily in Karate. Laine, Chris's cousin, has a son who goes to Karate and they love it, so she gave us a gift certificate to try it out for a month. We have enjoyed it so far and are looking forward to more Karate days! She earned her first belt, which was pretty exciting for her. She was very proud. Karate is very good in that it teaches discipline, focus, cooperation, control, and coordination.

 

 

 

Lily's Preschool Post Holiday show

This past Tuesday Lily had her post Holiday program for school. They decide to have it after the holiday's since people are usually so busy during those weeks leading up until Christmas. It was cute. They sang a few songs for us and showed us what they had been working on thus far at school. Monday is conferences...... hopefully those will go well :) I got the kindergarten registration forms in the mail the other day. I can't believe that my baby is almost in kindergarten. Where did the time fly ???? It seriously seems like yesterday we were sitting in that hospital room waiting for her to be born. Yikes!! I am feeling old.

 

Wilderness in the WI Dells

A friend of mine invited me and the kids to come up to the WI Dells for the night with them last week. We left on Friday
and got back on Saturday. We had a good time. She has a five year old boy and a 9 year old girl. All of the kids played so nicely together and it was nice for us mom's to chit chat !

 

 

Making more gingerbread houses

I brought some left over stuff to Mom and Dad VV's house to make some more gingerbread houses. The kids loved making them.

Christmas at Grammy and Papa's house

We spent Christmas eve with Chris's mom's side and Christmas morning with us four then we were off to Grandma Erfurth's house. At noon we went over to Mom and Dad VV's house and spent the rest of the day with them. I bought a Santa suit from Walgreens and had Dad VV put it on. It was pretty darn hilarious. Nolan, to this day, is afraid that Santa is still at Grammy and Papa's house and hates to go there. He is so so scared.
