Lily Gets her pink cast!

Our Tough little cookie got her cast on yesterday morning. She chose bright pink! She was very excited to have a pink cast and was excited to pick the color. Everything went really well. I do have to add that Lily has been so tough since Monday, and has only asked for Ibuprofen a couple of times! I just can't believe it--- if it were me, I would be keeled over in pain. After she got her cast on, we decided to keep her out of school the rest of the day since she wanted to go to school on Tuesday right after it happened. She deserved a day off after all of this. We spent the afternoon shopping, having lunch, and we even visited Grammy at her work to show her the cast. Hopefully this heals in three weeks, which is how long she is projected to have the cast on. The Elbow specialist says he sees this type of playground injury all the time.

Our Poor Lily

I think that I got one of the worst calls that a parent fears. Let me tell you how it went on Monday! " Hello Kristin. This is .... At the school and we have Lily in here. She got hurt at recess and is crying hysterically so I think you better come get her. She fell when she was doing a cartwheel/ handstand and I think she broke her arm. I know Lily and know that she is tough and she must be hurt really bad since she is crying so hard. " So I packed up Nolan and another kid I was babysitting that day and off we went to the school. When I arrived, poor thing was in so much pain-- I could just tell. The nurse knows Lily and she is right, Lily is tough and usually never crys when she gets hurt and her poor little self was so upset. Two nurses, the office staff, her teacher, and the guidance counselor who also loves Lily were standing around her. Then the principal walked in and said "Oh no, that is the Erfurth Girl" Poor Lily was in so much pain so off we went to the Drs. Office ( We called the ER and Urgent care and they recommended us take her right in town to her Family Practice Dr. for him to x-ray her) We spend all afternoon in the office and found out that she broke her elbow. It was so swollen that they put it in a soft splint cast with a sling for a few days to reduce the swelling before she got her hard cast on.

Our Surprise Envelope in the Mail

Surprise! Our awesome Ultra Sound tech sent us this in the mail. She printed off pictures of the baby when we were there and gave it to us but it was a pleasant surprise when I opened the mailbox and found this inside! Just in case we didn't know it was a girl.... now we have pictures to prove it.

Our New Little Baby Girl

So we weren't going to find out what we were having but it is just soooooo hard to not find out. Chris, Lily, Nolan, and I along with Mom and Dad VV all came out for the ultrasound. I finally scheduled it. We had an ultrasound at 11 weeks and I didn't really want one after that. A lot of parents can't wait for each and every ultrasound but I was scared. What if something was wrong with the baby? Then how would I feel the rest of the pregnancy and how would we tell the kids. But, my fears were put to rest after Drs. orders and we are happy to announce that we are having a very healthy little baby girl. Lily is so excited! When we told her, her smile was ear to ear. Nolan's reaction was rather funny---- we told him and he hopped on a chair, turned around from us, and pouted. He definitely wanted a brother but he has a bit of time to get used to the idea. Here is our little girl!

Girl Scout Camping

This was our first experience with Girl Scout camp. We ended up having a blast--besides the whole tire thing ( see post below). We ended up getting to the site in time for our girls to participate in opening ceremonies. We made our own flag ( I made it with the help of Grandma Kim's sewing abilities) and the girls were in the front of the line this year since they were the youngest group there. There were a lot of activities planned all day Saturday including tye dying, sing alongs, outdoor games and relay races, cupcake decorating, rock necklace making, the kids had an egg drop from the house roof, they cooked hotdogs on the grill as well as smores, they had a bon fire, had a night hike, and sang more songs. We also had troop time where I planned more craft activities for the girls. We ended the night with stories in the attic of the house and sleep time. We were the youngest troop so we were lucky enough to sleep in the house this year. The older girls got to sleep in teepees or in tents. The girls had a wonderful time and we can't wait until next year.

Break down on the way to Girl Scout camp

So as most of you know.... I am the girl scout leader for Lily's Daisy's girl scout troop. This past weekend, we had a camping outings with our troop and all of the other troops in Oregon. There were a total of 85 kids and 85 moms. We left early in the morning from my house. We had 6 girls from my troop going and 6 moms. We all loaded into three cars with me as the lead car-- we were all packed and set to head out camping in Echo Valley, which is about 45 minutes from Oregon. We were 2 driveways from the place and my tire blew out. I usually don't take Chris's car but wanted something smaller and something that we can keep outside just in case the weather is bad. So how many mom's does it take to change a tire----- 6 moms, 5 adult grown men and 6 kids. We finally got it changed after 1.5 hours---we ended up being late for the event. This will definitely be an experience we will never forget! And will be talked about for years to come.

Farmer's Market

We love to head up to the Farmer's Market around the Capitol Square on the weekends. We spend the morning eating yummy baked goods like cookies, scones, and fresh hot and spicy cheese bread. We also get fresh cheese curds which are the kids favorite, along with fresh veggies. I can't wait to go and get apples and fresh apple cider in the next few weeks.

Devil's Lake

Over this past weekend, we went up to Devil's Lake for Mom VV's work party. We had a wonderful time. The weather was beautiful---- it may be one of the last warm weekends of the year--- and the kids went swimming, kayaking, Chris took the kiddos on a long hike, they played games, ate yummy food, and had a wonderful time.

FIRST GRADE!

I CAN'T believe my Baby Girl is in First Grade! She was so excited to go to school this year. She loves her teacher and in the same class as many of her good friends. It is amazing the independence these first graders need to have. They have homework every night--reading 5-10 minutes and math flash cards. She hops on the bus in the morning, which stops right at our driveway this year, and I don't see her until the end of the day when she gets off the bus. Last year we drove her to school and picked her up but this year, it is a whole new thing and she is loving it.
