POLAR PLUNGE 2010

We did it!! We jumped into a frozen lake and we survived :) It is weird to say but it was kinda a crazy rush... although as my dad says... We can knock that one off our "Bucket List" It was cold outside today and I woke up this morning thinking that it was going to be semi warm today...36 degrees was the prediction which is warmer than it had been. Surprise!! Cold, snowy, and cold... did I mention cold again. I can honestly say that I did indeed have fun and it was so worth doing this. What an awesome cause! Thanks again to our sponsors for making this possible! We appreciate you and what you have given the Special Olympics.

A weekend UP NORTH

This past weekend we went up north to Chris's Aunt's cabin up in Rhinelander. It was actually between Rhinelander and Eagle River. It is such a beautiful cabin and we had a wonderful time. We went up to celebrate Dad's 50th birthday and Chris's aunt and cousins were so kind to let us use it for the weekend so we could spend some time together. The kids played outside in the beautiful weather on Saturday( cold but sunny so it seemed warmer) and on the lake with sleds, eating snow, making snow angels and having snow fights. We took a walk to what seemed like the other side of the lake, and we even went into town for the afternoon. The kids lasted outside for a couple of hours on Saturday until their little fingers and feet got cold and Sunday, they didn't spend much time outside.
It was such a wonderful weekend spending time with family just hanging out. The cabin is located so close to the lake so we were within steps of frozen water. The kids really loved the idea that they were playing on the frozen water. Thank you so much to Luann, Lainie, and Chantel who let us borrow the cabin for the weekend.

Another tooth is gone....

Lily has lost her second tooth. She actually lost it last week but I totally forgot to post.... It is such a major event for us. The second tooth, but the first top tooth and her first front tooth. YEAH!! Pictures to follow.......

Big Boy

What a big boy we have over here. He is offically in a big boy bed. No rails, no small toddler bed and the best yet... no crib. I don't know if this is a good thing or bad. Good because he is growing up... bad because well... he is growing up. He has been doing so good. The first night we put him in it, he stayed in it all night long, and didn't come out at all. He even calls us or Lily in the morning to get him out of this big boy bed and doesn't venture out on his own. I can't believe it. He has not gotten out of bed once since we started over the weekend. Next step.. potty training. ( We have gotten rid of the nuk/bippy during the daytime as well)

 

 

We went sledding again. This time, Chris got to come with. It has been snowing like crazy here again so we are trying to take advantage of the snow. The kids actually have gotten used to the snow and love to be out in it.

HAPPY 50th B-Day

Yesterday was Dad's birthday. He turned 50. Lily and I surprised him at work with Balloons, then we all went out to eat at Red Lobster in the evening. Dad- We hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

SLEDDING

It was finally warmer outside here... I mean 25 degrees which is really not that warm if you think about it... but it was warmer than it had been. So, I decided to take the kids sledding at Mom and Dad's house for the afternoon. Dad took these pictures... He is a wonderful photographer and is just picking up the hobby. He has taken many classes and knows just what to do to take a great picture. I am trying to talk him into me setting up a website for him so he can start his own little photography business :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Let's take the Polar Bear Plunge

I am taking the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Wisconsin on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Madison. Yes, I am crazy.... But hopefully I will recruit more caring people to do it with me and have some fun for a special cause.

During the Polar Plunge, warm-hearted people collect pledges before jumping or running into Wisconsin's cold waters to raise funds for Special Olympics.

The Weekend

We had a pretty relaxing weekend. Chris had to work on Saturday and I vowed to stay home all day with the kids and not go anywhere. That doesn't happen too much at our house. We are usually running from this thing to that thing and never just stay home in our jammies all day long. I loved it. We got invited a few times to go out and then I had to cancel because I just wasn't going to go back on my word to myself. Weird huh????
Sunday we relaxed for most of the morning and then went to Mt. Horeb for Chris's after the holidays work party. It was at his coworkers house and he is from Hawaii. He made such wonderful Hawaiian food. It was all delish. The kids had a babysitter, which they loved. We usually have family watch the kids but we wanted to try something different and have the kids have a babysitter this time. Plus, it got to be really late at night on a "work night."

Crafty Kristin

I love etsy.com. They have great crafts for sale on there. They sell tons of hairbows for kids on there for really expensive. I thought that I would pull out my crafty side and make hair bows for Lily myself. Ta-Da! Anyone want one?
