I know, I know.... it took me long enough to post these. Right after I had the baby I took two weeks off from babysitting and spent it with my kiddos. I spent the days holding the baby, hugging her, and kissing her none stop because now that I have three, I realize how fast time flies by and how fast they get older and bigger. I was telling my friend that I don't mind not sleeping now at all---because now that this is the third, I do realize and know that there will be an "end" in sight and they will eventually sleep through the night. Time at night should be cherished! Because time certainly does fly by fast--There will be years and years to sleep.
So anyway, Eloise Rose Erfurth was born on January 31st at 8:19pm. She weighed 7lbs 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. We will call her Ella for short. A perfect size baby! Especially since I was over my due date. Since I was due on the 27th of January and didn't have her until Jan. 31st ( the other two were almost three weeks early so as you all know, we were anticipating this baby would arrive early as well) you can imagine what my last many days were like. Impatiently Waiting ( and those of you that I talked to in the last few days know that I was very very impatient), hoping the baby would be born, and any little sign of movement, I thought it was a contraction. I was in and out of the Drs. office, and the hospital once with false labor.
So here is the labor story:
I had a Drs. appointment on that morning--Jan 31st which was four days after my due date. My Dr. refused to induce me on my due date( although at the beginning of my pregnancy he told me that if I hadn't had the baby by the due date, he would induce me). He said I was perfectly healthy, the baby was healthy, I was not too big and did not gain that much weigh and could get around good so he was going to let nature take it's course. We set up an appointment to be induced for Feb. 6th since he said that going any later than that date would be unhealthy for the baby and pose many risks. He did scrape my membranes that morning to see if that would start labor but said it might not work since he did that the week before and it did nothing. I was already 3 cm dialated for a few weeks before and still was the same on that morning. So after my appointment, my friend and I decided to go and walk the mall. We let our kids play in the play area at the mall and we sipped our Gloria Jeans drink. On the way to the mall, I started having minor contractions but didn't think anything of it since I have been having them for weeks and my Dr. said my stomach would cramp up with what he did but not to panic. So I didn't. We started timing them because it was just a little weird to have them consistent every 5 minutes apart lasting 1 minute at a time. Still, I didn't think anything of it. We walked and shopped for 4 hours. Sometimes I was keeling over, or would have to stop pushing the stroller and take a breath but still didn't worry. My friend and I left the mall over four hours later to pick up the big kids from school. I was still have consistent contractions although I didn't know they were contractions on the way home. I thought I would pop my head in the Drs. office to see what was going on. I called them and they had me come in so the Dr. could check and see what was going on. My friend dropped me off and picked up Lily at School for me--and took Nolan with her--. The Dr. checked me and he said I was in active labor and told me to get right up to the hospital and he would meet me there. My history with the other kids shows that I have babies really fast and he was concerned I wouldn't make it on time. By that time I was already 5 cm dialated. The Dr. wheeled me to the waiting room where Chris picked me up and off we went. We called Mom and Dad VV. to get the kids since they were keeping the big kids while we were at the hospital. Thanks mom and dad for taking the kids! By that time we were on the way, I was in tons of pain every five minutes. Yikes! It hurt! The nurses were notified and they met us at the doors of the hospital and checked me in right away. After five failed attempts with the IV and one failed attempt with the Epideral( the second time, it worked) and waiting for the Dr. to arrive and give approval for everything, Eloise Rose Erfurth was born! Two pushes--two small pushes--- and she blew out of me :) Literally. She was healthy and scored the highest marks on the Apgar scale. She did have meconium since she was a little late, but it didn't get in her lungs so she was great. Since it was so late at night for the kids, they didn't come the first day to the hospital but Dad did come up to see her and take some pictures.
We enjoyed every moment at the hospital. My Dr. said I could go home after 18 hours but we elected to stay in the hospital a bit longer and enjoy her. ( We knew that when we arrived home, our house would be chaotic with the other two)We had many many visitors which we loved!
So... good thing we were packed for a while! And check out all of Ella's hair in the pictures!
